About Second Chance SPCA

Please walk in during our business hours!

Second Chance SPCA is one of the other places listed in Plano, Texas. The business is registered at 1700 J Ave, Plano, TX 75074; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.

Places that do not fit a cafe, bakery, tea, breakfast or nearby-store category land here: tourist attractions, parks and museums with a cafe on site, and unrelated businesses that came in through an import or a Google Maps match. Attraction cafes usually keep the venue's hours and may require admission to reach, so check before making the trip; park kiosks and museum coffee counters are often seasonal. Other listings are kept so that an old address or phone number still resolves and can be re-filed into the right category later.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 1–6 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Second Chance SPCA at (972) 424-0077; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, secondchancespca.org.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 270 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Plano is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Plano is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

My girlfriend and I came to look at a few cats to potentially adopt. Everyone was super helpful and answered questions we had as this would be our first ever cat. We adopted a beautiful 4 month old named dryer lint! They included a carrier, food and even a bed for her. We had a great experience here and have already reccomended others to check them out in the future. Thank you second chance!

My experience with Second Chance SPCA in Plano was so terrible that even though this happened in December, I’m still upset writing this review. We adopted a puppy in December as my daughter’s 11th birthday gift. She’s an only child, and we lost our dog of 13 years two years prior, so we were finally ready to welcome a new furry family member. My daughter was so happyβ€”our whole family was. Before bringing the puppy home, we were told she had a β€œhot spot.” Even though I grew up with dogs and have had them my entire lifeβ€”including adopting straysβ€”I had never heard of this. We were told it wasn’t a big deal. I even said I preferred to wait until Monday to give her time to heal, but the shelter insisted it wasn’t necessary and encouraged us to bring her home that Thursday. When my husband brought her home, I was shocked by the size of the hot spot. The reason I hadn’t noticed it when we first met her was because she was wearing a dog sweater, so it wasn’t visible. They claimed they didn’t see it either until the vet pointed it out, but it’s hard to believe that something that largeβ€”about the size of my entire handβ€”went unnoticed by people caring for her. From day one, I noticed a ve

The adoption process was smooth and quick if you ensured you had all paperwork you needed prior. Staff was kind and told us what they knew about the pet we were adopting. They asked if we needed anything to take home which I thought was super amazing of them to offer! If you’re looking for a pet this is a great place to choose. Check petfinder or their site weekly to see what you’re looking for. It’s how we found our new family member😊 thank you!!

The adoption process was handled so perfectly. I came and met my girl and immediately fell in love. The guy that helped me was incredibly informative over the pet and was very sweet. I came back a couple days later with my older pup to meet the girl we were interested in. The same guy helped make sure that they would both work well together and they hit it off! We took her home that day and it has been nothing but perfect!! I cannot recommend this shelter enough, when I adopted my pup, they also let us pick some free toys and bandanas!

I love this no-kill animal shelter. Second Chances rescues at-risk cats and dogs from local municipal shelters and cares for them until they find their forever homes. It’s a great mission and the volunteers are great. I’d recommend Second Chance to anyone looking for a companion or looking for a place to volunteer.
